Tourist – Sparks

British producer Will Phillips releases “Sparks” from his sixth album as Tourist, Music Is Invisible. The track sits at the heart of his pivot into uplifting trance, representing his return to melodic storytelling after years orbiting electronic music’s more contemplative corners.

“Sparks” embodies what Phillips loves about trance—telling melodic stories. He’s discovered an older sense of himself making this record, diving into euphoria with the same craft he previously reserved for melancholy.

Phillips built the song to work in big spaces, huge rooms, festival fields—using broad brushstrokes while still finding intimacy. It’s part of an album that features Julianna Barwick’s vocals on opening track “Invisible” and “Capricorn”, plus Real Lies on “Love In Silence”. On “Veil”, he samples Grimes’ “So Heavy I Fell Through the Earth”, but “Sparks” stands on its own with vintage trance leads and propulsive energy.

The producer was eager to explore the fleeting feeling of transcendence in all its messy glory, making something that feels like a Turner painting. “Sparks” channels that philosophy—it’s a track about hope and sincerity, designed for clubs and walks home, for moments when euphoria and genuine emotion collide. Phillips sums up the entire album with one lyric: “In here, your dreams survive.” “Sparks” proves he means it.
